MEENA KUMARI NAAZ: GREAT POETESS AND ACTRESS OF INDIAN CINEMA
Meena Kumari’s real name was Mah-zabeen. She kept her pen name as [Naaz]. She wrote Urdu couplets (shayaris), some of which were published in magazines, but she never formally published a book.
Due to her beauty, Mah-Jabeen struggled greatly in her daily life. Instead of her beauty adding to the quality of her personality, it became an obstacle at every turn, creating nothing but difficulties for her.
A STAR BEAUTIFUL ACTRESS
Besides being beautiful, she was also a top-tier actress. Every filmmaker, director, producer, actor, singer, and writer in the film industry longed to gradually get closer to Meena Kumari. A man, whether single or having two or three wives, collapses right there upon seeing a beautiful fairy. When such a man sees a gentle doe like Meena Kumari, he might even sell his household utensils.
Then, even if a man wanders through brothels and watches mujras a hundred times, he remains “pure.” But alas, the misfortune of women! The very man who praises another man’s wife as the most beautiful woman and a fairy, instantly declares his own wife characterless if he sees her merely talking to someone else. Meena Kumari and countless other actresses in the film industry became characterless, courtesans, criminals, and “mujris” in the eyes of all the “holy sinners” of the film world. ( To Be Continued)
